Ancient Roman Ruins Discovered

A year ago I posted about ancient Roman ruins being discovered with Google Earth. I decided to check it out at Wikimapia and found that no one has marked the ruins yet! Not even in italian! Since this is the one year anniversary (well it just passed) of the discovery, I thought I would point this out as a cool place to check out. Click the above image for a larger version or visit it at Wikimapia.

How ToSeptember 15, 2006

This is the first post on how to use Wikimapia. In this first edition, I will go over the basics of adding a new place. My original blog post (which has been reposted here: Wikimapia) has received a number of search engine referrals that indicate some people do not know how to add a place. This post is for you! It is really quite simple. The following images are clickable for larger versions.

Since finding Wikimapia a while back, I have enjoyed playing around over there. In case you haven’t been there, Wikimapia = Google Maps + Wikipedia. Their goal is to “describe the whole Earth!” Since I enjoy it, I thought I would make a blog that could bring others into the fun as well. My main blog is Matt Jones’ Random Acts of Verbiage, so please feel free to visit there as well!

If you have any suggestions for posts or fun uses of Wikimapia, let me know!
